Fae & Fauna FAQ - Sep, 2026
Hello wonderful Fae & Fauna supporters!

Big things are happening in the studio, and starting now you’ll be seeing a lot more progress updates and content from us. To start off, we see your questions and thought it was high time to make sure we publicly answer some of the most frequently asked ones. If you have more questions, never hesitate to ask!
What platforms will Fae & Fauna be available on?
For Early Access, Fae & Fauna will be available to play on PC via Steam. For the 1.0 launch we’re aiming to port to more options. If you have specific wishes, let us know so we can take that into consideration when exploring those options!
Will there be controller support?
While developing the game, controller support is and has always been a part of the process. The game in its current state is playable with controller, with some minor needs for mouse and keyboard (like naming your character), but will be fully optimized down the line. There will also be custom keybinds, color-blind mode and other accessibility options on EA launch.
Which languages will be available for the game?
As of now, we can only promise English during Early Access. Ideally, we’d love to support all requested languages but as our resources are limited we’re still exploring those options. If you wish to see a specific language, please let us know and we’ll take that into account when exploring options.
Why Early Access, and for how long?
Fae & Fauna is developed and self-published by a small studio. It’s an open world with character design, storytelling, beautiful landscaping, programming and much more – all made by 7 developers. To be able to balance making a game we think you’ll truly love, while also keeping the studio running, following an early access model made the most sense. This also allows us to develop the game alongside the community and listen to the feedback and input our players wish to see.
Our Early Access road map will be posted during launch, but as of now we can share that our timeline is estimated at 2 years. This is not set in stone though, but that is our current aim.
Which features can we expect to see in Early Access vs. 1.0?
The mechanics that will be present at EA launch are Exploration, Combat, Decoration, Gathering, Crafting, Creating new Faeons, Questing, Collections, Character Customization, Romance, and some more RPG juicy stuff.
Some features that are planned for 1.0 are deeper Faeon bonding systems, QoL features, more biomes and story, and other features most requested by the community. For example fishing, bug catching etc. If you want to share your input and wishes, please join the discord and help us in the development process of the game.
Do you use Generative AI?
No, we do not work with generative AI. In 2023 (around the start of the “gen AI hype”, for lack of a better term) we tried it out for a few things, like marketing assets, believing it would be a useful tool. We soon learnt more about it, and chose to step away from using it as it does not align with our values. So, no in-game or marketing assets you see are made using gen AI.
Which programs and engine is used to make Fae & Fauna?
The game is made using Unreal Engine 5, and assets are both from Blender, Maya and zbrush. We also use programs like Substance Painter & Designer for texturing, Procreate and Photoshop for concepts and 2D art, and Canva for planning and marketing, along with many others. If you’re curious about an in depth look into any of our processes, feel free to ask!
Will there be microtransactions/gacha/similar payment models for Fae & Fauna?
No. Fae & Fauna will be a one-time-buy game. No in-game items will rely on a gacha or microtransaction model. There might be optional DLC/Packs to add on in the future, but all major gameplay or functionality will be (and remain) available after purchasing the game.
Do you have a creator-program? Can I cover the game?
We’re planning on rolling out a creator program in the coming months, but if you’re already excited, reach out to get on our list! If you’re looking for our current presskit, please visit www.auroraartsstudio.com for the link.
